UG Creative Collaboration Requirements

Undergraduate Creative Collaborations Grant Requirements

  1. Applicants must be Women's Studies majors, minors, or certificate students and have the support of a mentor.
  2. Mentors must be affiliated with Women's Studies. This includes core and affiliate faculty as well as graduate students who have (or are working towards) the IWS Certificate.
  3. Applicants must have already taken or be currently enrolled in WMST 4011: Understanding Research in Women’s Studies or commit to signing up for the course at the first opportunity.
  4. Proposals may be for 1 or 2 semesters’ duration.
  5. For 2-semester projects, the proposal should specify either Spring/Summer or Spring/Fall (Applications for Summer/Fall and beyond will reopen in spring semester).
  6. 2-semester projects will require a mid-point check-in to determine eligibility for continuing into the second semester.
  7. Proposals must include collaborations with a local organization and have public presentations of final products that amplify the multivocal character of our community and/or draw attention to pressing concerns.
    • Community partners must be confirmed for accepted proposals to receive funding.
    • IWS will consider proposals that do not yet have clear confirmation from the community partner IF the applicant already has an existing relationship with the potential partner (such as work or volunteer experience) but needs more time to confirm their participation.
  8. Applicants may apply for thesis research credits or final projects for their degree, if the project is relevant to those areas.
  9. Applicants may also sign up for an independent study with their faculty mentor to build research skills and earn credit hours for their research.
  10. Applicants may simultaneously apply for CURO funding for their proposed research, and IWS will award applicants independently from the CURO process. If awarded, applicants can accept both sources of funding.
