Andrea Carson Coley Lecture
The Andrea Carson Coley Lecture was endowed by a donation by Andrew and Kathy Coley in memory of their daughter Andrea Carson Coley (1972-1993), who was a certificate candidate in Women's Studies. Each spring, our Andrea Carson Coley Lecture brings to campus scholars doing cutting-edge research in the area of LGBTQ studies. Click here for a list of previous Coley Lectures.

Friday Speaker Series
The Women's Studies Friday Speaker Series is in its 35th year of presentations by faculty, students, and community members. Presenters showcase their current research on gender and women's studies. All talks are from 12:40pm to 1:30pm (per UGA's revised class schedule) and will take place in the Miller Learning Center. Contact the Program Coordinator at for more information. All talks are free, open to the public, and First-Year Odyssey approved events.

Student Symposium
Each year, the Institute for Women's Studies sponsors a one-day University-wide student symposium to showcase the diversity and vitality of feminist scholarship at UGA. The symposium encourages students and faculty to engage in lively debate, while also giving students the opportunity to present their scholarly work in public to a sympathetic and interested audience.

UGA Women's History Month
Every March, the Institute for Women's Studies coordinates and co-sponsors lectures, films, discussion panels, art exhibits, and more for Women’s History Month as well as publishing and distributing a poster-sized calendar highlighting those events.

Women and Girls in Georgia Conference
The biennial Women and Girls in Georgia Conference was established in 2007, to encourage and highlight research by, for, and about women and girls in Georgia, in all their diversity. The conference brings together academics, activists, and community members to share expertise, strengthen networks, and strategize for positive social change in Georgia and beyond. Stay tuned for more info on the next WAGG -- Fall 2024!
