Medical student at Louisiana State University HOW WERE YOU AFFILIATED WITH WGS? Women's and Gender Studies major and member of Triota. TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT WORK (PAID OR UNPAID!) I'm currently a medical student at LSU Heath Science Center-New Orleans. Since misoprostol was re-classified as a controlled substance in Louisiana, I have been working on compiling a list of pharmacies that stock and fill this medication in order to improve patient access. HOW HAS YOUR WOMEN'S AND GENDER STUDIES EXPERIENCE SHAPED YOUR LIFE AND WORK POST GRADUATION? My Women's Studies experience at UGA has shaped my life in so many ways. Personally, it opened my eyes to different lived experiences. Professionally, it makes activism an important part of my work and motivates me to continually interrogate my biases and keep my mind open to learning. WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE MEMORIES FROM YOUR TIME IN WOMEN'S AND GENDER STUDIES AT UGA? COURSES, PROFESSORS, EVENTS? My favorite Women's Studies memories from UGA were working in the UGA garden for the Environment, Gender, and Race class, the graduation luncheon for the class of 2018, the friday speaker series, the in-class discussions with my classmates, and presenting at the Southeastern Women's Studies Association conference. My favorite classes were Black Feminism with Dr. Ray, Feminist Philosophy with Dr. Davion, and Asian American Feminism with Dr. Herles. ANY ADVICE FOR CURRENT WOMEN'S AND GENDER STUDIES STUDENTS (GRADUATE OR UNDERGRADUATE)? Make sure you take care of yourself so you can keep doing the work!
